Calhoun County Transit Legal Notices

Calhoun County Senior Citizens Association, Inc. and Calhoun County Transit provide programs and transportation without discrimination. Florida law, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibit discrimination on the basis of protected characteristics, including race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, religion, and marital status.

Anyone who believes they experienced unlawful discrimination in the provision of transit services may submit a complaint and may request an accessible method for doing so.

For general federal guidance, visit the Federal Transit Administration Title VI page or the Florida Commission on Human Relations.

ADA Complaint Procedure

This procedure may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination based on disability in access to services or programs provided by Calhoun County Senior Citizens Association, Inc. or Calhoun County Transit. Employment-related complaints are handled separately.

Submitting a Complaint

A complaint should identify the complainant and describe the location, date, and nature of the alleged discrimination. Complaints should be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation. Alternative filing methods, including a personal interview or audio recording, will be made available to people with disabilities upon request.

Response and Records

Within 15 calendar days after receiving a complaint, the ADA Coordinator or designee will meet or communicate with the complainant to discuss the complaint and possible resolutions. A written or otherwise accessible response will generally be provided within 15 calendar days after that communication. Disability-discrimination complaints and responses are retained for at least three years.
